Before I went on the trip, I got a copy of Les Beletsky's book, Belize and Northern Guatemala: The Ecotravelers Wildlife Guide. It was an immeasureable help in identifying animals while in country. I also used it as a resource for the science data on this page. Click here if you want a copy.
